LAURIE DALTON WHITE is the founding executive director of Conferences for Women, the largest network of women’s conferences in the nation. White began this work, in partnership with state and corporate leaders, in 2000 in Austin. She was at the time a new mom with a two-week-old son who recognized how powerful the experience of community is for women. She was previously a senior advisor and SVP at Hill+Knowlton Strategies, a leading international communications consultancy, where she managed and executed campaign strategies primarily for Fortune 500 clients. Prior to that, she served as managing director of Public Strategies and legislative liaison to former Texas Lieutenant Governor Bob Bullock. When asked, as she often is, whether women still need conferences of their own, White says: “Absolutely. The value of coming together as a community and supporting each other is certainly as important now as it has ever been.” White and her husband live in Piedmont, CA and have two grown children, Sam and Halle.
